Originally, the 55,000-square-foot building served as a plumbers’, sheet metal and tool shop at the Navy Yard. The historic renovation honors the 1904 Renaissance Revival building’s history by fully restoring the historic façade and carefully inserting new elements.

Project highlights for Building 25 feature:

  • Original copper gutters and downspouts that were restored
  • A lobby with a repurposed teak staircase, pottery, and wood-carved and quilted wall panels
  • Full replacement of terra cotta roof to match original
  • Restored original windows
  • Reclaimed hardwood floor throughout the building
  • A mixture of old and new steel platforms
  • Repurposed teak paneling
