Blue Rock partnered with Event Network, the leading retail operator for cultural attractions across North America, to deliver a new and impressive retail space for the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
The 3,000-square-foot project included work on the first (1,300 sf) and third (1,700 sf) floors in the museum’s new addition, which another general contractor completed.
Blue Rock’s work for the museum, which was founded in 1869, included:
- Drywall/tape spackle
- Installing door/frame / hardware
- Painting, wall base, wallpaper
- New millwork
- Final cleaning
Setting times to coordinate deliveries with other GCs and their trades, along with getting materials from the docks to the first and third floors, presented a challenge that Blue Rock met.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Blue Rock Construction on two new experiential retail stores at the Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation, the newest addition to the landmark
American Museum of Natural History in New York City.“This was our first project together, yet beginning with my earliest communications with you, I was confident that by working together our project would be a success. As the project progressed, and I had
the opportunity to work with Thai Nguyen as Project Superintendent and others on the Blue Rock team, I became more impressed with your entire organization. Your group’s dependability, communication, and ability to perform flawlessly despite frequently changing conditions and schedules, has proven my early confidence to be justified if not short-sighted.“Event Network considers the stores at Gilder Center to be two of our finest locations and I consider Blue Rock to be a key part of this success.
“Though this was our first project together, I hope it will not be the last. I intend to look to Blue Rock for future projects in and around the tri-state region.”
