Blue Rock Construction transformed a former farmer’s market on the campus at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, Pa., into the newest Terrain experience for Urban Outfitters, Inc.

The highly anticipated, nature-inspired lifestyle space features a Terrain retail store, Terrain Café with indoor and outdoor seating, a private dining area, a nursery, and a greenhouse.

Terrain at DelVal also includes an exterior chapel, an event garden area, a banquet hall, an indoor ceremony area, bridal suites, and a full kitchen.

The project covered 22.5 acres and 24,500 square feet for all the buildings.

Demolition at the former market got underway in September 2022. Terrain held its grand opening on June 29 and hosted its first wedding the following day.

The event venue can accommodate weddings for up to 160 guests, making it the largest of its three Terrain locations. Blue Rock also constructed Terrain at Styers in Glen Mills, Pa., and Terrain Gardens at Devon Yard.

Thanks to New Studio Architecture, Terrain at DelVal combines rustic charm with modern amenities set in a pastoral landscape. The farmhouse architecture features high ceilings, skylights, natural wood floors, vintage fixtures, and a wirework garden vine treillage.

The university, known for its agricultural program, is growing produce to be used at Terrain’s restaurant, or sold directly to customers in the shop. Terrain also offers internships to Delaware Valley University students.

Any food produced by the university and not used by Terrain and DVU will be donated to food banks in the area.
