Blue Rock constructed CANPACK’s first U.S.-based facility, a 1.1 million-square-foot, state-of-the-art aluminum beverage can manufacturing plant in Olyphant, Pa. It is the largest manufacturing project in the Greater Scranton Area since Proctor and Gamble in 1966.

The facility supports four can production lines and also features:

  • Office support areas
  • Cafeteria
  • Production hall
  • Warehouse and chemical storage areas
  • Recycling area
  • Pallet-storage area

The facility also features an Experience Center. The high-tech, 3,000-square-foot Experience Center entertains prospects with special audio/visual presentations. Blue Rock’s responsibilities for the eye-catching space included framing, flooring, drywall, all electrical work, painting, fire alarm, plumbing, and HVAC work.

The project included the demolition of a blighted 1 million-square-foot facility on a 102-acre brownfield site.

Originally, the Olyphant project was designed at 907,000 square feet, but the decision to add new storage space and install a fourth line expanded the building to 1.1 million square feet.
