Urban Outfitters, Internet Fulfillment Center and Data Center

Project Description

Urban Outfitters

Blue Rock successfully delivered the Urban Outfitters Internet Fulfillment Center, featuring a state-of-the-art Data Center as a core component of the project.

Over the course of 13 months, Blue Rock constructed a cutting-edge one-million-square-foot distribution/data center in Gap, PA. This advanced facility is equipped with 120,000 square feet of mezzanines and 25,000 square feet of office space, all under 22+ acres of building roof.

Key highlights include:

  • Advanced Data Center Integration: The facility includes a sophisticated Data Center that is crucial for managing high-volume internet fulfillment operations. This Data Center supports real-time data processing, system coordination, and seamless logistics management.
  • Climate-Controlled Environment: The entire warehouse is fully climate-controlled, ensuring optimal conditions for both the products and the technology within the Data Center.
  • Comprehensive Facilities: The Fulfillment Center features 52 dock positions, allowing for efficient and streamlined distribution operations. The expansive mezzanines and office spaces support operational efficiency and staff productivity.

Blue Rock’s expertise in construction management enabled the seamless incorporation of this advanced Data Center, setting a new standard in internet fulfillment centers and ensuring robust support for Urban Outfitters’ logistical needs.

Blue Rock performed this work as a design-builder for the MEPS trades and worked closely with Urban Outfitters’ architectural design partner.

Despite the expedited process, many unique characteristics were incorporated into the building that truly exemplifies Urban Outfitters’ vision. The state-of-the-art facility features sophisticated automation and advanced infrastructure, including one of the country’s largest rooftop solar arrays for on-site power generation.

Some featured highlights include:

  • 13,450 solar panels that produce 4.1 megawatts of power
  • Custom form liner wall panels
  • Polished glass aggregate flooring
  • Millwork created from reclaimed wood from an existing barn

The facility also contains 469 skylights, 212 tilt-up panels, and 58 delivery truck doors, as well as nearly eight miles of sophisticated, high-tech conveying systems.
